ABOUT TODD SMITH

Todd Smith was born in Arlington, Texas, on March 23,1963, and has been a resident of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area since 1971. Todd is married to Nancy McKinney Smith, and they have two sons. The Smiths reside in Euless and are members of The First Baptist Church of Euless. Todd is also a member of the Board of Directors of The Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of Commerce, The Mid-Cities Optimist Club, and The Hurst Euless Bedford Rotary Club, where he was named "Rotarian of the Year" in 1993-94.

Professional Background

After working as an associate and partner at two well-respected law firms in Dallas (Locke, Purnell, Rain, Harrell) and Tarrant Counties and handling hundreds of cases on both sides of the civil trial docket, Todd formed The Todd Smith Law Firm - a civil litigation practice - in Bedford, Texas, in 1996. He is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and in Civil Trial Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

Professional Honors

  • Selected as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine

  • Voted Top Attorney in the area of Personal Injury Law and Product Liability Law by Fort Worth, Texas, Magazine

  • Awarded each year since 1999 an ‘AV’ (A = preeminent attorney, V= very high general ethical standards) rating by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating given by this preeminent national legal directory and is based upon confidential survey responses of attorneys and judges.

Education

  • Attended the University of Texas School of Law, graduating with Honors in 1988.

  • Attended Southern Methodist University from 1981-1985, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Economics.

  • Graduated from Trinity High School in Euless, Texas in 1981, where he was President of his senior class.

Educational Honors

  • Named in 2008 to Introductory Class of the Hurst Euless Bedford ISD Hall of Fame. Chosen as one of the two most accomplished graduates from Trinity High School which opened in 1968.

  • Named Trinity High School "Alumni of the Year" in 1995-96.

  • Received an SMU Political Science Scholarship to participate in a program at the American University in Washington, D.C., including work as an aide for then U.S. Congressman, and former Tarrant County Judge and Arlington Mayor, Tom Vandergriff (1983).

Texas State Representative, District 92 (Serving Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Arlington, Grand Prairie and Fort Worth). Re-elected without opposition in 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2006. Re-elected with opposition in 2002, 2008 and 2010.
